A Little Cutie Is On The Way

When my cousin told me she was pregnant I was beyond excited. She and I grew up playing house together and she is about as close as a sister as one can get. Her baby isn’t due until August but I am already in love.

When she mentioned having a shower I instantly jumped on Pinterest and Etsy to look for an inspiration. She is not finding out the gender of her baby so I knew we needed something neutral and after some browsing I came across the theme, “A Little Cutie is on the Way!”

Then it was time to get the party planning started. My sister and I joined forces and began scouring the internet for all things orange. We are not professional party planners by any means but with a little help from Etsy, Amazon and family, we were able to pull together an amazing shower.

You can do it too! Here’s what you need to throw a “Little Cutie” baby shower.

Start with an Invitation

I almost always get my invitations from Etsy. For one, I love to support small business. Also, most of the invitations I find are downloadable and customizable. Not to mention, they so adorable. Check out the invitation we got from AfterLuna Studio.

Decorate the Tables

We went for crisp white tablecloths, burlap runners, eucalyptus leaves, vases of orange roses and babies breathe, and of course a scattering of cutie oranges. I think the white of the tablecloth were the perfect contrast to the green of the eucalyptus and bright orange from the cuties.

Add Hanging Decorations

Finding hanging decorations that went with this color scheme was simple. Any shade of orange or peach works perfectly to add a touch of color to an event space. We went with tassels, pompoms and fans. Most of the items we purchased were delivered straight to my door compliments of Amazon. We completed the hanging decorations look with a custom-made “Little Cutie Sign” from Etsy from Taneas Party Shop.

Create a Drink Station

For a shower on a hot, June day, we needed a drink table full of refreshments. We made sure our hydration station was complete with orange flavored water, iced tea and chilled wine. We found the perfect cups and straws to tie in our cutie theme.

It’s Game Time!

Planning a shower is not complete without a few games. There are tons of shower games available but finding something that isn’t cheesy can be tough. We didn’t want our games to take up too much time so we opted for 3 that were short and sweet.

We chose to do a diaper raffle, Guess How Many Cuties, and Baby Item Price Is Right.

With the invitation we asked all guests to bring a box of diapers for a diaper raffle. I remember receiving so many diapers at my shower that we didn’t have to buy a pack until my baby was 7 months old. The diaper raffle is a huge win for any soon-to-be mom. AfterLuna Studio on Etsy had a printable diaper raffle and an 8.5 ” x 11″ display sign to match the invitation. We sent these raffle cards with the invitation but also printed out extra for the day of the shower.

Another simple game was our “Guess the Cutie” game. We filled a glass jar with 5 lbs of candy oranges and had each guest fill out a guess card. The closest guess won one of our orange themed gift baskets. And if you are wondering, there were 194 cuties. Did you get close?

Guess The Cuties

The last game we played was a take on The Price Is Right. I found this printable Price Is Right card from Bohemian Wood on Etsy. Prior to the shower, I purchased each item from Target and displayed them at the shower. Guests had to predict the total cost of the items. Closest estimate won a prize. Funny enough, our Momma-to-Be had the highest total. Rookie!!!

We delegated the game prizes to one of my cousins and she did not disappoint. She put together orange themed baskets for each game. When throwing a shower it’s best to know your strengths and ask for help when you can. I am lucky that I have a lot of talent in my family to pull from.

Let Them Eat Cake

The cake! The best part of a baby shower! We kept it simple by purchasing a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and decorated it with this cute cake topper from Party At Your Door on Etsy. A family friend offered to make the themed cookies and with some leftover eucalyptus and cuties we created a pretty sweet looking dessert table.

Shower the Momma-to-Be

Once all the planning, preparations and decorating are done it is time to shower the momma-to-be with all the love she deserves. And boy, doesn’t she look amazing! Admire the smile on her face and enjoy your time with the guests.
